It can be made of steel, iron or gray iron, each with its own characteristics. So how to choose the suitable material for your ship ?  Both steel and iron models are strong and durable, though steel is more subject to corrosion. Gray iron is the least expensive and resists corrosion very well, but is weaker and less durable than the other materials.
